Purpleheart is an extremely dense, strong, and durable South American hardwood, especially popular as a decking timber in New Zealand for many years.

Perfect as a durable exterior decking solution, Purpleheart is also well-suited to unique architectural projects, pergolas, posts and beams due to its smooth, fine texture, stability and extended lifespan. The unique colour change of Purpleheart also adds appeal – light brown when freshly cut, changing to a deep purple upon exposure, before maturing to brown and eventually a silver-grey colour after many months. Purpleheart comes in a multitude of sizes, is easy to work, machines well and is supplied in a longer length spread than other decking species.
