Cavity Battens
When it comes to wall cladding, every element plays a vital role in ensuring longevity and performance. One such integral component is the cavity batten, which provides a second layer of defence against the elements. The cavity allows any water to drain and provides greater airflow, helping to dry out any moisture build-up, and thus increase overall performance and longevity of the cladding.
JSC has optimised cavity battens for use with JSC exterior cladding, by increasing the ventilation, durability, and water management properties of the battens.
Scope of Use

- Castellated timber battens, to create proper air circulation and minimise moisture build-up within the cavity.
- JSC cavity battens can be planed down to accommodate for build-up of head flashings and flashing tapes.
- Do not require any extra treatment to the cut ends.
- H3.2 treated offering enhanced durability.
- Available in a variety of structural and non-structural cavity batten options.
- Provide robust defence against any moisture infiltration through gaps, joins, structural penetrations, pipes, and fixings.
- JSC cavity battens have angled edges on both sides, including the bottom when laid horizontally. This controls any water entering the cavity by directing it away from building wrap penetrations and minimising splashing.

Non-Structural Cavity Battens
JSC-U Cavity Battens are 20mm thick and 45mm wide with bevelled edges, making them the practical solution for both horizontal and vertical applications.
Structural Cavity Battens
JSC Structural Cavity Battens are 45mm thick, providing a deeper cavity to maximise drainage capacity and increase ventilation rates behind the cladding. JSC Structural Cavity Battens provide additional options to create deeper window reveals and other design elements.
