Ngahinapouri Home

Set within the rural landscape of Ngahinapouri, this home by Coventry Construction combines a series of gabled forms with a carefully considered selection of natural materials. Designed to make the most of its expansive surroundings, the home balances generous indoor and outdoor living spaces with a strong connection to the landscape beyond.

A combination of light-toned brickwork and JSC TMT Taxon cladding in a TMT55 profile defines the exterior. Together, the materials create a balanced contrast, with the warmth of timber complementing the solidity and texture of the masonry.

Coated in JSC's Scumble® Canyon Clay, the Taxon cladding introduces rich natural tones throughout the home. As JSC's clearer grade thermally modified timber, Taxon offers a clean and consistent appearance that works particularly well across the home's large cladding areas, creating a refined finish alongside the brickwork and darker architectural detailing.

Rather than being limited to feature sections, the timber is carried throughout the design. It wraps the gable forms, defines the recessed entry, and extends into the outdoor entertaining spaces and chimney features. This consistent application helps connect the different elements of the home while reinforcing the role of timber throughout the design.
