JSC TMT® is a range of thermally modified timber species created to provide greater design choice across a range of architectural applications. With three core species JSC TMT® species - Taiga®, Amba® and Taxon®, alongside ThermoPine® as an additional timber option, plus over 25 coating colours, three surface finishes and multiple profiles, it supports distinctive outcomes across cladding, panelling, battens and screens.
ThermoPine® extends the material palette with a New Zealand Radiata Pine option. For exterior applications, JSC currently specifies MicroPro® treated ThermoPine® options.
The design possibilities extend beyond colour alone. Each timber species brings its own grain, tone and material character, while profile, surface finish and coating can further change how the timber reads across an elevation or interior. This gives designers the ability to work from the architectural intent first, then refine the timber selection around the desired scale, texture and colour response.
Every project can achieve its own architectural expression while allowing the species, profile, surface and coating to be considered as part of the wider architectural palette. Appropriate JSC systems can then be specified to meet relevant project and compliance requirements.
Performance That Supports Design
Every design decision depends on reliability. Thermal modification improves the dimensional stability of timber, helping reduce movement as moisture conditions change. This increased stability can help reduce the potential for cupping and distortion and provides a more stable substrate for appropriate coating systems. Coating selection, exposure and ongoing maintenance remain important considerations, particularly where darker tones are specified.
Specify appropriate JSC TMT® species and profiles within JSC’s CodeMark certified cladding systems for a clear pathway to compliance within the scope of the relevant CodeMark certification.
JSC coating options give designers greater control over colour and the degree to which the timber’s grain and natural variation remain visible. Exterior appearance will continue to be influenced by exposure, coating selection and maintenance*.
